Research

Traditionally, Chinese Americans have not been the target of research studies. As a result, data on Chinese Americans is very limited. Without sufficient data, there is little justification for funding specialized services. In an attempt to change this vicious pattern, CCHRC has over the years partnered with national and local organizations in conducting research projects. Recent projects include studies funded by the National Institutes of Minority Health and Health Disparities (R21) on “Innovative Faith-based Education on Advance Directives in Asian Americans” and the Tobacco-related Disease Research Program (Pilot CARA) on “Chinese Community Internet Stop Smoking Project”. Previous projects studied cultural perception of domestic violence, attitudes toward cancer, and quality of life among Chinese cancer patients.
