Who can get treatment?
Anyone who meets the following conditions:
- Tested positive for COVID-19
- Testing provided by healthcare providers
- Testing provided by Test to Treat sites
- Testing provided by pharmacies
- Results from at-home test kits
- At risk of serious illness (50 years or older, unvaccinated, or have certain medical conditions)
- Both eligible adults and children can receive treatment

Can I get oral antiviral drugs through my primary care physician?
Yes. Qualified healthcare professionals may prescribe oral antiviral drugs to eligible patients.
Can treatment replace the COVID-19 vaccine?
No. Vaccines are still the most effective way to prevent severe COVID-19 disease. Vaccines can train the body’s immune system beforehand to fight severe disease whereas treatments help prevent severe disease.
Are there treatments to prevent COVID-19?
The best way to prevent COVID-19 is to get vaccinated and boosted. However, people who have a weak immune system or serious adverse reactions to vaccines and cannot get vaccinated may be eligible for Evusheld to prevent severe COVID-19.
How much does treatment cost?
Currently, most COVID-19 treatments are free but healthcare organizations may charge for visits and related services, such as COVID-19 testing. Medicare, Medicaid, and some private health plans cover all costs. Please ask your health insurance.If you don’t have a health insurance, please ask if the healthcare organization charges any fees.
