Women’s Health Day

Women’s Health Day is a collaborative project designed for monolingual and bilingual Cantonese and Mandarin-speaking women residing in San Francisco Bay Area with an emphasis on disease prevention and health promotion. This Health Fair is unique because it addresses the need of those who are often unable to benefit from similar educational opportunities because of language and cultural barriers. Topics include gynecological health issues, communication skills, child development, cholesterol, osteoporosis, heart health, cancer awareness, Hepatitis B, domestic violence, gambling, as well as health screenings such as clinical breast exam, cholesterol, blood pressure, osteoporosis, diabetes, and many others. In addition, on-site enrollment into the free mammogram program is available. Between 1999 and 2004, the Women’s Health Day drew over 2,700 participants from the San Francisco Bay Area.
